English Summer strikes again
Wednesday 26th July, we, together with friends from West Webburn Alpacas, had a Stand at Yealmpton Show, South Devon. We were exhibiting a multitude of alpaca products in addition to having 3 of our alpacas there in a small compound. During the previous several days it was sunny and warm. Inevitably, the forecast for the Show was appalling - and right!. We had torrential rain and high winds all morning, the afternoon being dry and bright. The morning however ensured that the expected visitor turnout was around 50% of the 2016 total. The alpacas had the sense to stay in their trailer but even there, we had many folks come to see them and its clear that public interest in alpacas remains high despite some pretty poor publicity ref btw. Sales of alpaca products inevitably reflected the awful weather though, pro rata results were good. We have 3 more Shows to go this "Summer". We hope the law of averages works in our favour.
