We are now seriously into the throes of retirement from alpaca breeding.
Having talked about it for 2 years, we are now actively preparing for retirement from alpaca breeding after a really enjoyable 13 years. Our herd has been reduced through sales from 42 to 16. Of these, all our yearlings are dark brown or fawn and are some of the prettiest we have ever bred. All are for sale at negotiable prices. Our principal interest is in seeing them go to good homes - price is a secondary consideration.
We took the decision to abandon breeding last year and this is the first year since 2002 that we are expecting no cria births. It is a bit of a wrench, as one of life's real pleasures is watching newly born crias tottering about the paddock on the day of their birth only to be charging round at uncatchable speed on the second day.
We will be at Yealmpton, Lustleigh, Chagford and Widecombe Fairs this Summer in conjunction with our friends West Webburn Alpacas and will have a wide range of alpaca products on sale, together with some of our alpacas.
We look forward to seeing you there!
