Honiton Show reviewed
Honiton was a great Show - shame about the weather
The Honiton Showground has 2 great plusses, its close to the A30, well signed and easy of access, and the main internal drives are hard cored!. Given the recent weather, the latter is a Godsend. The weather forecast for the Show was - no rain so it duly rained, turning the walkways into mudbaths.
However, there was a great turnout for an excellent show. This year there were over 90 alpacas in halter/colour classes with Ian Waldron of Langaton doing a great job of judging all day despite the rain and slightly miserable looking alpacas. We had a good day with 1st, 2nd and 4th place results. Our "mature" girl, Hazel, was finally adjudged to be a fawn. She is a real head turning animal with beautiful colourings which are not altogether "standard" but she has always produced solid coloured cria so is a winner for us.
Alpaca standards were high, the day successful and the Show is likely to be even better in 2010
